Suzy Huizenga and Fiesta

Suzy Huizenga and her husband Mike have been owners and operators of Twin Maples Farm in Lynden, Washington since 1981.
Over the years Suzy has trained and shown in Dressage, Combined Training, Hunters and Jumpers. In the early 1980's Suzy co founded the Whatcom County Pony Club, and served as District Commissioner and Instructor for a number of years.
In the 1990's , Suzy and her daughters Michelle and Kristi focused on showing Ponies, Hunters and Jumpers on the local level and A circuit.
Daughter Michelle has continued in the business , and after 7 yrs working as an assistant trainer to Olympic Show Jumping champion Chris Kappler, in Pittstown , NJ., she is running her own business, riding, teaching and coaching at horse shows in New Jersey.
Suzy has enjoyed training many more students and their mounts to become polished competitors in the show ring. She also has assisted intercollegiate teams from WWU, WSU and UW.
After spending four years of intensive training with instructors from the Parelli Natural Horsemanship program, Suzy has been incorporating the concepts of Natural Horsemanship training into classical training and the demands of training the sport horse.
A native of Seattle, Washington Suzy was trained as a working student at Evergreen Equestrian Center, in Kirkland, WA , and worked at local barns in Whatcom County while attending Western Washington University.
